Flexible and Powerful: Users who have run Winapps like the user interface, and owners of our 9.07 versions and later will be able to have a Windows Control Panel in the next month or two, that can be used to "control" PkGOLD and KaGOLD. By using a mouse, you'll be able to hit any of the "function" keys, or select things from a windows menu, and what you do in the control panel will be sent to the GOLD program. Owners of 9.07 will be able to download a free update when the control panel is available.

In the meantime: If you want a truly powerful program, with lots of features, that runs in ANY platform, and runs reliably and smoothly, you will not find any other program with the number of features in PkGOLD or KaGOLD.

Windows Help Files:  Get a copy of the latest support files for KaGOLD. These are in Windows HLP file format, and can be reviewed while running KaGOLD in another WINDOW.

A Great Way to Learn the Features: The Help system is a great way to review the features of PkGOLD and KaGOLD. The help system here is for KaGOLD, but all the main features of the program are in PkGOLD too.

All three files in one EXE installer: The three help files (and the uninstaller) go into the KaHELP directory by defailt. (click on the first image to enlarge). You will find all of the information in the regular KaGOLD help file (that comes with the program) with the additional features that come with windows help files: Indexing, searching, setting bookmarks, and printing. 

The KaGOLD.hlp file starts off like the next image (click on the second image to enlarge it). From this file, you can jump to the other two files, and using the backup key in the Help viewer, get back to this page. You should make a Bookmark of the top page. This will allow you to click on "Bookmark" and select this starting page. 

Here's what to do:

• Get KAHLP.EXE  which is a Windows Installer for the Help Files.  Download it to any directory or to a floppy and run it from there.
• Run KAHLP by clicking on it. It will let you pick the drive and directory, or to cancel the install.
• Note: There are no changes made to your system registry.
• The KAHELP program group (Win 3.xx) or Directory (Win 95, 98, NT) has an uninstaller that completely removes the files.
• The only thing installed on your system are three help files.

There will be a PkGOLD version, but it will differ only in the specific TNC commands unique to the AEA TNC. So 90% of what is in these files is applicable to PkGOLD as well.

Some new things on the Web Page of interest

Callsign Lookup using QRZ, Buckmaster HamCall(tm) and the FCC/ARRL "recent" callsign database. Scroll down to the bottom of the Contents Frame (on the left) and click on the Callsign Lookup reference.

Updated Radio Amateur 1998 Callbook TSR for those using PkGOLD or KaGOLD and the "Flying Horse" CD. This new TSR accesses earlier versions of the CD.

Get Unmatched Performance and Flexibility on one program.

If you want a program that can run on ANY computer, from your laptop to an earlier model 8088, to a Pentium Pro running Windows NT, PkGOLD and KaGOLD are the right choice.

TNC programs do NOT benefit from Winapp DDE (Dynamic Data Exchange) with other applications. There is no advantage to OLE (Object Linking and Embedding) and nothing to be gained from dealing with the thousands of Windows Events (Messages) that plague what is popularly called "true winapp" programs.

Resize PkGOLD or KaGOLD in Windows and the program "snaps" to a different font, and still shows the entire application. This makes DOS apps (well-behaved DOS apps) more useful in Windows if you plan to run multiple programs in Windows, which is why you run Windows in the first place.

KaGOLD for KPCs and KAM

KaGold is designed for the Kantronics TNC. All KaGOLD programs are Dual Port, multi-mode, and support the Single Port KPC-3 and KPC-2 (with version 5.0 to Version 8 ROMS).

KaGOLD is available in two basic versions: KaGOLD is $79.95 and is dual port, multi-mode, but without Pactor and GTOR support. For an additional $20, you can get KaGOLD with Pactor and Gtor.

All programs come with printed manual, and a hypertext on-line help system for all TNC commands and operating modes.

PkGOLD for PK-88 and PK-232

PkGOLD is designed for the AEA PK-232 and AEA Pk-88 tncs. We have two versions, a $79.95 multimode version (all modes except Pactor) and a version with Pactor for $99.95.

PkGOLD/900 for the PK-900

PkGOLD/900 is a dual port multi-mode program which includes Pactor support. It is designed specifically for the PK-900. The price is $129.95.

DSPGOLD

This version is designed for the AEA DSP-1232 single port unit, and the DSP-2232 Dual Port unit. It is not designed for the newer DSP-232 (the DSP-232 unit is too buggy for us to support, so we do NOT have a program for that TNC).

DSPGOLD is like our other Dual Port "GOLD" programs and has all the advanced features you'd expect.
