    TestDrive Programs -- Version 9.08  (rev 11/2000)

      Please read before you download...

Note: These are Version 9.08 Test Drive Programs. They are in ZIP file format. You can download the programs, but you must then UNZIP the files to a floppy drive to install and run the TestDrive.

      Why Run the TestDrive

You can learn a lot from the testdrives. But they are intended to show only some of the features of the release program. Some users have run the testdrive and think they've run the actual PkGOLD or KaGOLD program. We've even seen reports from testdrive users that clearly indicate they ran it, looked at it, and shut down and missed all of the features. Other users have called saying "The testdrive is better than PC-Pakratt or Host Master" and understand that the release version is even better.

What sort of test driver will you be?

One thing you will notice right away is the clean interface. It doesn't appear to have lots of menus and "junk" on the screen. But we have plenty of menus and functions, we just don't clutter up the screen with tiny windows, or unnecessary text like some programs do.

The 120+ page manual that comes with version 9 describes a lot about digital modes, about how to run our software, and how to run it in Windows, and how to get the most out of PkGOLD or KaGOLD.

Look over the help system using [F1] once the program is running. Check out some of the documentation. Call us if you have any questions or comments.

If you have any trouble getting the testdrive to run, please contact us immediately. We want you to have fun, to see the program work, and to understand why so many users speak so highly of KaGOLD and PkGOLD.

The actual release program is a version 9 program. We make the Testdrive available to show some of the features of Version 9, but the release program is even more advanced, and has more features.

After running the testdrive, read through the DOC files. The ver9.doc file covers the additions and enhancements in version 9 compared to earlier versions.

Here are some differences between the testdrive and the release program.

      • Version 9 adds ANSI graphics capture, remote commands, restartable YAPP, Callsign data support, including SAM, Buckmaster, Amsoft, QRZ, and The Amateur Radio Callbook CD.
      • The testdrive supports packet, rtty (baudot), AMTOR, Pactor, and if your TNC has it, GTOR. But it does not LOG contacts, and it runs for 30 minutes at a time.
      • The testdrive asks you for setup information every time it runs. The release program saves settings to disk.
      • The release version supports remote started conferences, locally started ones, and multiple conferences, including a conference of conference bridges all running KaGOLD or PkGOLD. This may sound complex, but it's really quite easy to setup and fun to use.
      • The testdrive shows how you can do multiconnects, dual port (on KAMs), and HF modes, but the time period (30 minutes) may not give you enough time to test everything. Please run the TestDrive a few times. Call if you have questions, or write to support@interflex.com

      KaGOLD TestDrive
If you have a KPC-3, KPC-4, or KAM, Download KaDEMO.ZIP version 9.08 file. Unzip the files to a floppy drive, and install from there. The ZIP file you will download here is about 1/2 Meg. It is NOT a self extracting program, you'll need to extract the files using PKUNZIP or one of the Windows Zip programs. When the files are on a floppy disk, you can install from there.
      PkGOLD TestDrive
If you have a PK-88, PK-96, or PK-232, Download PkDEMO.ZIP Version 9.08 and unzip the file to a floppy disk and install from there. If you own a DSP-2232, DSP-232 or PK-900, please contact InterFlex Systems. Write to support @ interflex.com
      What To Look For
Read the docs, and try the sound demo. The testdrive SoundDemo(tm) can be run without a TNC, but the actual TestDrive needs to have a TNC hooked up to show you what the program can do.

The TestDrive programs run the TNC in HOST mode, and we suggest running the program at 4800 baud, and if you know what serial port you are using, specify it rather than having the program try to find your TNC (this saves you time).

Please contact InterFlex Systems by e-mail if you have problems. e-mail to support @ interflex.com.
Better yet, fill out the order form and get your own version 9 program and start getting more out of your TNC.
