Lost Orders:

We found that any orders placed on the order form for the past 90 days were automatically deleted rather than stored. Orders sent to us through e-mail correspondance were handled properly.

If you were used the order form, or went there based on our suggestion to use the form and submitted an order for any product (new order, upgrade, update) your order was never recorded, and the information about it was deleted.

I only found out about this today based on a review of the e-mail messages, and trying to find orders that were described in the e-mail, but had no counterpart in the order entry system.

That problem has been fixed. Place all orders through the web page order form.

If you placed an order, and never received a confirmation by e-mail, then your order was one of the orders that was deleted, and never processed.  Please resubmit your order and look for an e-mail confirmation within 24 hours.

Version 9.08:

Version 9.08 is now tested, and handles the "error 201" "divide by zero" error that many reported when PkGOLD or KaGOLD was run on very fast computers (500 Mhz or faster).

If you place an order for a new program, upgrade, or update, you will get a 9.08 version, and a new USER ID. You will not get the 9.07 version as shown on the order forms. The order form version information will be changed soon, as will the web page.

Windows 2000 news - it works:

Generally speaking, reports from Windows 2000 users are good. Windows 2000 is more like Windows 98 in terms of the hardware and software it supports, and less like Windows NT, which is more picky about hardware and drivers.

Users who reported problems with serial ports in Windows 98 and Windows ME have reported no such problems with Windows 2000, in fact Windows 2000 works better.

However, the built-in Windows 2000 support for MSDOS programs appears to have problems depending on how you setup the shortcut. The information about the "time of day" is apparently not supported according to the MSDOS standard.

There is a fix for the time of day issue in Windows 2000:

Windows 2000 has an MSDOS "command" interpreter called "CMD.EXE" and it seems to work better than simply running the program in the "normal" way.

Here is how to make use of the "CMD.EXE" program.

1. Create a shortcut on the desktop. Right click on a blank area, use the menu to select "New" then "Shortcut"

2. Enter the command as "CMD.EXE /k  c:\kagold\kagold.exe" if you are using kagold.

3. For the name of the program enter "KAGOLD" (or whatever you are using).

The program should run in a Window (not full screen).

Once the program is started, you can switch between Windowed and Full-Screen view by hitting the [Alt-Enter] keys.  This "toggle" also works in Windows 95, 98, 2000.
