Items of Interest to "GOLD" users and friends
-
February, 1998
Just a couple of items this month.
1. Callsign Access Page added
2. Order Forms on the Web Page
You can now place orders directly on the web page. These forms are
processed locally, and are forwarded directly to the order desk. You can
save $10 to $20 on new purchases by placing orders on the web page. Here
are the three forms to look for.
-
NEW purchases for PkGOLD and KaGOLD are discounted $10 to $20 for web ordering
-
Upgrades from prior versions of PkGOLD or KaGOLD are $49.95, a 50% savings.
-
Updates to the latest versions are just $20.
3. Protected Mode versions
When you place your upgrade or update order, consider getting the "386/Protected
mode" version. It uses XMS memory on 386, 486, and Pentium systems. For
Windows and OS/2 users, the XMS memory driver is built in. For DOS users
with a 386 or better system, a Protected Mode memory driver is supplied
so you can still get the advantages of XMS memory.
The advantages are (1) no overlays, so the program runs entirely in
memory, nothing is read from disk once the program starts, (2) Scrollback
buffers are gigantic, some 10 to 50 times bigger than conventional programs,
(3) the operation of our "Command file" processing is faster.
4. The 1998 Radio Amateur Callbook
The latest Radio Amateur Radio Callbook 1998 uses a different TSR to access
the data. You'll need to get the latest TSR from our web page and replace
the one you have. Download a copy of
CBTSR.EXE.
This TSR can read prior versions of the Radio Amateur Callbook,
so it is the ONLY tsr you need to work with PkGOLD and KaGOLD.
OLD NEWS
-
October 24, 1997
-
We've had a lot of great news to pass along to those who visit our web
page, and in the next few weeks, lots of things are going to be added,
including hints on using PkGOLD and KaGOLD in Windows, calling Windows
functions from GOLD, and information about the advantages of PkGOLD and
KaGOLD over the many "Windows ONLY" programs being promoted. If you want
flexibility, speed, power, features, performance, portability, you won't
find it in a Winapp. Check Back next month for more information on this
important topic.
-
Another important set of topics has to do with getting the most out of
the remote command support built into Version 9. Many users are just now
finding out just how powerful this "batch-like" command processing is,
and what they can do to improve the existing file server, callbook server,
conference bridge server and ANSI graphics server functions built into
Version 9.
-
Emergency Support groups (RACES, Red Cross, FEMA, U.S. Forest Service,
Tonopah Test Range to name a few) are finding that PkGOLD and KaGOLD are
the easiest and most powerful programs available, and the most portable
across their computer options, from palmtop computers to Pentium MMX systems
running Window NT, they realize that PkGOLD and KaGOLD provide stability
and reliability not available in ANY other TNC programs.
-
Check back often. We will keep this page more up-to-date than it has been
over the past year. In the next few weeks, you'll be able to sign-up for
e-mail notices when new things are available to see and download.

June 15, 1996
-
The Radio Amateur Callbook 1996 TSR has been revised in June, 1996. The
new TSR referred to on the InterFlex home page will work with either the
original 1996 Callbook, or the new Summer Edition.
-
If you use the newer TSR (cbtsr.exe or doslogac.exe), it will access either
the original 1996 Callbook, or the Summer Edition. However, using
the old TSR with the Newer callbook does not work correctly.
-
Keep it simple: Use the new CBTSR.EXE in place of your earlier CBTSR.EXE
or earlier DOSLOGAC.EXE. It will work with both Callbook(tm) CDs.
-
We've posted our version 8 Testdrive programs, and are in the process of
putting together Version 9 TestDrive programs. Check back at the end of
June 1996 to get a Version 9 TestDrive if you are still searching for a
program with more features and power than any DOS or Windows program.
-
To download the testdrive program(s) see PkGOLD
and KaGOLD Testdrives
Here are some earlier news releases...
-
October 26, 1995:
-
The Radio Amateur Callbook has announced a new CD-ROM callbook containing
all of their U.S. and international listings. This is the only product
that can officially be called a "CALLBOOK" (a trademark they own).
As of this time, the CD-ROM has not been released and is not yet available.
We will be supporting the Radio Amateur Callbook CD-ROM in KaGOLD, PkGOLD,
PkGOLD/900, dspGOLD and KaGOLD DataEngine when it becomes available in
December.
InterFlex will also carry this new CD-ROM Callbook in stock: you may
order now via our BBS, Fax or phone and we will ship the CD-ROM and update
when it becomes available.

September, 1995: PK-12 warning!
-
We first announced this in January, 1995, just after the The PK-12 was
introduced. It had then, and still has now some Host Mode protocol problems
that were reported to AEA in January 1995. To date, the problems have still
not been fixed. As a result, we do not support the PK-12.Consider the KPC-3
instead -- it is a lower power, smaller, and very capable TNC.
-
InterFlex news as of 7/24/95:
-
Kantronics recently announced version 8.0 firmware for the KAM, and version
6.0N for the KPC-3 and KPC-9612.
KaGOLD 9.06 supports GMON and the K-NET node in the latest firmware.

InterFlex news as of 5/30/95:
-
To better serve those of you who are on the internet, we've changed how
our internet mailing lists operate. The previous GOLDLIST is no longer
in operation, and two new lists will take its place.
For more information, send a message to LISTS@INTERFLEX.COM.

InterFlex news as of 5/15/95:
-
Changes to support the April 1995 Buckmaster callbook were released on
Monday, 5/8/95. For current 9.0x users upgrades are $15 plus $5 s/h, or
ask about our new 386 versions which use up to 8 megabytes of memory for
scrollbacks, etc.
We fully intend to support callbooks into the future, but please keep
in mind that from time to time the various callbook publishers change file
formats, etc. and since these are published by other companies, these changes
are beyond our control.
If you aren't sure, please check with us before purchasing a new callbook
CD-ROM.
